How can I turn one ethernet cable into 3?



I have a DSL modem that is connected to a wireless router. From the router I have an ethernet cable that goes into a room of my house. In that room I have 3 devices that need connected to the internet. Can Plug the ethernet cable going from my router into a hub or switch and then have 3 ethernet cables go from that into the devices? Please explain the diff between hubs and switches and tell me what I need.

  1. Yes you can use a switch for that

  2. Add a simple switch to that one cable, and you will get 4 more ports….
    Use a switch, not a hub – hubs are “dumb” devices, they repeat everything to all ports – switches send data only to the port that requires the data…
